Analytical Labaratory Chemist

Duties and responsibilities: (which are not in any hierarchical order)

  • Schedule finished products and raw materials for laboratory testing.
  • Maintain GLP and safe laboratory procedures.
  • Read, calculate and record data to produce a report for clients.
  • Resolve testing and instrumental issues.
  • Daily use of analytical instruments including HPLC, UV-Vis, GC, ICP, AAS and FTIR.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot analytical instruments.
  • Train, motivate, assign & evaluate work, and discipline according to established Standard Operating Procedures within the Quality Department.
  • Supervise Q.C. Laboratory Technicians.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment.
  • Research and report any discrepancies and/or failed assays to Q.C. Manager within 24 hours.
  • Direct day to day laboratory operations and maintain a safe environment.
  • Manage use of external laboratories and verify their credentials.
  • Maintain waste disposal properly.
  • Any other tasks or work as deemed fit by management.

Physical requirements and work environment:

There is occasional need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Formulation Technology promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physical Science, or related field
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in a laboratory
  • Supervisory experience preferred
